Locating-Post-Tension-Cables-in-Columbia-South-Carolina.jpg

Prior to the realignment and installation of plumbing pipes, a mechanical contracting firm contacted GPRS to scan the areas before coring took place. Jeremy Martin - GPRS South Carolina mobilized to the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina to perform a non-hazardous, non-destructive method of concrete x-ray. Due to the portability of the GPR antenna, the scanning was performed quickly and accurately. Since the results were marked directly onto the surface, the customer was able to preserve the structures integrity and miss the reinforcing steel within the elevated concrete slab.

Unlike x-ray/gamma ray, Ground Penetrating Radar is time efficient, non-hazardous and able to show real time results. The energy emitted is equivalent to 1% of a cell phone, therefore, the production of the construction site can continue without any radiation hazards. Our Mission is to provide solutions to the critical problems our customers face regarding the location of hidden objects in concrete and underground.

Rebar_Spacing_Investigation_In_Burlington_North_Carolina.jpg

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was requested on a site located in Burlington, NC by a local general contractor to determine rebar spacing and embedment depth in several sample areas along slab and beams. The location of the rebar was marked directly on the surface, along with the depth in the concrete. This information was then used to assist the engineer with making load calculations.

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is an ideal solution to investigating rebar spacing and embedment depth in concrete. GPR is a fast and safe way to ‘x-ray’ through concrete.

Concrete_Scanning_In_Jacksonville_North_Carolina.jpg

The services of Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was requested on site at a military base in Jacksonville, NC. The contractor on this project was in need of concrete scanning to verify whether the masonry columns were constructed with reinforcing steel or if the columns were only grouted with no rebar. Nate Stair was the lead technician on this project. Nate was able to locate rebar in every column of the pavilions structures. This GPR scan gave the engineers the information needed and the project was able to continue. Ground penetrating radar is a safe, cost effective, and time saving technology that can be used for many applications such as; locating PT cables, rebar, conduit, and voids in concrete, as well as underground utilities in soil applications. For information on how you can use GPR on your next project please contact Nate Stair to set up a Lunch & Learn at your local office in the NC-SC area.

The services of Ground Penetrating Radar Systems, LLC. was requested on site at a high rise renovation project in downtown Raleigh, NC. The general contractor on the project had several locations where they were anchoring and core drilling into a PT reinforced beams. The contractor had considered X-Ray or Radiography to locate the tendons but found GPR to be a more cost effective option for concrete scanning. The locations were scanned and Nate Stair with GPRS, Inc. was able to give a detailed layout of the reinforcement and the anchoring and core drilling locations were safely completed. Concrete scanning using GPR is a safe, cost effective, and time saving technology. For questions on how you can use GPR to locate underground utilities, PT cables, rebar, and conduit in slab on grade, call Nate Stair. GPRS, LLC. can set up a Lunch & Learn for your local office in the NC-SC area.
